Misha is a highly adrenalized dog, with obsessive behaviors and anxiety. In this session I introduced her owner to the long line. I explained the concept behind it and how it can help a dog with anxiety. STRUCTURED WALK EXPLAINED
Misha! Conquering the treadmill. Misha is a very anxious dog that obsesses over lights, shadows and anything else in her environment. In this session we challenged her mind, and gave her a lot of things to focus on. Being introduced the the treadmill is one of them. No, it’s not about “being lazy” and not taking the dog on a walk, that completely misses the point. The point of the treadmill for some dogs is to present a new challenge, a new focus, and to build more trust with the owner. Once the challenge is completed, we praise and celebrate and make the dog feel good about their accomplishment. Nurturing calmness at home, while also confidence building, trust building, and practicing exercises based on focus is an EXCELLENT recipe when working with a highly adrenalized dog with anxiety.
